2004 Imports from Benin

Chris Starace had served for two years as a Peace Corp volunteer in Allada.  In July of 2004 he returned to Allada with his wife Cara.  Nestor Djossou, a neighbor and close friend of Chris when he lived in Allada, had been instructed to find litters in isolated, difficult-to-access villages in the area.  Nestor located three litters in Lissegazoun and one in Ayou that were available.  Nestor procured the pups and Chris arranged transport to the U.S.  On 27 July, 2004, 6 puppies arrived in Virginia from Benin:

Avuvi Afonhaan
Avuvi Ekanye
Avuvi Enagnon
Avuvi Hontongnon
Avuvi Kouabo
Avuvi Wafi

Here are some pictures of the pups in Allada, as well as some random village dogs.  After the pups were collected from the outlying villages, they were staged at Nestor's house in Allada.
