The native dog of Benin depicted on a stamp
The Avuvi Project
The goal of the project is to import and maintain a small, viable population of aboriginal dogs from West Africa.

We are seeking people who would be willing to participate by providing homes for some of these dogs.
Béninois puppy
If you choose to participate and are selected your primary responsibility would be to provide a loving home for these dogs.  All of the dogs will undergo a thorough health screening (including eye, hip, and thyroid evaluations) before being placed and will be current on all of their vaccinations and medications appropriate for their age.  All documentation will be provided.

Your responsibilities will include providing annual reports, copies of all medical records, and occasional photographs.  Some tests may be prepaid or reimbursed by the project.

The cost?  You will be expected to reimburse a portion of the procurement cost.  The project will retain an interest in the dog.
But as long as you abide by the terms and conditions of the contract you will enjoy the rights and privileges of an ordinary owner.
